Highlanders Beat Mercer Island, 1-0
|
Dale Burney was in top form in a low-scoring contest between Asheville and Mercer Island. The Highlanders left-hander helped his team beat the Screaming Eagles, 1-0. The Highlanders now own a record of 13-14.
The Highlanders relied on first baseman Orel Vodarsky for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the ninth, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.
"We fed off the energy of the crowd at the end," Burney said.
