Screaming Eagles Win, 2-1, Extend Streak to 4 Games

The Virginia Beach Whales went down to defeat to Juan Corona and his Mercer Island teammates. The final score was 2-1 in favor of the Screaming Eagles. Corona got the win, improving to 3-0. He allowed 5 hits and walked 2 over 5 innings. Corona allowed 1 run. Gustavo Carrillo collected his 2nd save.
The Screaming Eagles got an important contribution from third baseman Denny Forbes, who in the bottom of the fifth hit a forkball into left-center for a run-scoring double. It was his 2nd double of the season and put the Screaming Eagles ahead, 2-1.
"Being able to play a game for a living is one thing. Being able to play it well and contribute to a win is even better," Corona told the Mercer Island Gazette.
With their winning streak at 4, the Screaming Eagles have raced to a strong start this season.
