Screaming Eagles Topple Pierogis, 6-0
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles stymied the Squirrel Hill Pierogis, 6-0, at Mercer Island Grounds. Denny Forbes had a good day at the plate. He was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for Mercer Island. Mercer Island pitcher Geoffrey Da Costa got the win, upping his record to 1-0. Oliver Haddow got the loss. The save went to Jeff Cook, his 1st this season.

With Mercer Island leading 3-0 in the bottom of the sixth, Forbes hit a fastball from Jamal Baldwin for a 3-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Screaming Eagles ahead, 6-0.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Forbes. "And not try to do too much."

The Screaming Eagles, now 12-4, have played some good baseball in the early going.
