The Virginia Beach Whales topped the Squirrel Hill Pierogis, 6-4, in USPL Double A action at Field of the Rawhides. The standout performance belonged to Virginia Beach pitcher and Tucson, Arizona, native Jeff Vázquez. In 7.1 innings, Vázquez surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Earning his 5th save of the year was Peter O'Farrell.

Virginia Beach relied on the bat of Darren Overton to get the win. The designated hitter ripped a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Whales ahead, 4-0. For the game, Overton had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.
