Mercer Island rode a good effort from starter Juan Corona to beat the Crescent City Krewe at Field of the Krewe. The final score was 3-2. Corona, now 1-0, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 4, walking 5, and allowing 2 runs. Orlando Calderón closed the door for Mercer Island, picking up his 1st save of the year.

Mercer Island used the timely hitting of Leon Wright to capture the win. The catcher socked a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Screaming Eagles ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.

Crescent City manager David Martínez said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
