The Billings Polar Bears got a sterling performance from first baseman Dave Houston, but the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles still prevailed, 7-4. Houston was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Jeff Cook came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 4 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. The win puts Mercer Island at 3-1.

Mercer Island took a 6-4 lead on Tom van Dam's 1st home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Billings pitcher Nelson Shaffer in the bottom of the eighth.

"When this team comes together and plays the way we can, we can compete with anyone," said van Dam. "I think we're going to keep proving that."
