Opening day festivities have begun throughout the league. Fans of the Squirrel Hill Pierogis were eager to watch Cisco Navarro square off against Kim-Hu Tung of the visiting Billings Polar Bears. In the end, the Polar Bears won the game, 4-3, with Samuel Lopez leading the way.

Lopez had a timely hit for Billings in the top of the seventh. With Squirrel Hill trailing 3-2, he turned a 1-2 forkball into a 2-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season, making it 4-3, Billings.

Lopez said his team "played with focus."
