Miners Stick Loons with 5-1 Loss
|
Marquette starter Ben Gallagher had a strong outing against the Minnesota Loons at Marquette Stadium. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 5-1 win. Mario Ledezma nailed down his 20th save. Marquette, now 41-49, holds down 7th place in the Silver AA.
Marquette first baseman Christian Wade contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a changeup into center field for a 2-run single. It was his 47th hit of the season and put the Miners ahead, 3-1.
Gallagher told the Marquette Observer: "I think I thrive on conflict. It brings out my best."
