The St. Petersburg Thunder grabbed a win, 4-3, over the Gwinnett Guinea Pigs at Experimental Stadium. St. Petersburg left fielder Bernard Myers was 2 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. St. Petersburg reliever André Chambon got the win, raising his record to 3-2. Anastagio Puggioni was tagged with the loss. The first-place Thunder have a one-game lead in their division.
Michael Kirk chipped in for St. Petersburg, stroking a crucial run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning. For the game, the second baseman was 2 for 5 with a double.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Kirk.
