The Pine Island Dolphins dealt the Gwinnett Guinea Pigs a 5-3 loss at Experimental Stadium. Malik bin Nadim was the star on offense. He belted 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Bob Porter got the win, improving to 2-0. He held the Guinea Pigs to 3 runs on 5 hits over 7.2 innings, while striking out 2 and walking 1. Vic Byrd earned his 17th save in 18 chances.
Pine Island took a 5-2 lead on bin Nadim's 10th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which he hit off Brody Avery in the top of the sixth, propelled Pine Island to the win.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Pine Island manager Chua-kah Liu.
The Dolphins saw their win-loss record go to 43-38. At the same time, the Guinea Pigs fell to 48-33.
