The Yakima Hops racked up a win at The Ogre Den, bumping off the Olympia Ogres, 5-3. Archie Locke, who started for Yakima, pitched effectively for his team. Locke, now 9-4, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 6, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs. Marcus Kelly got the save, the 5th for him this season.
In the bottom of the ninth, Gerardo Rosas stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Ogres were trailing 5-3, but had runners on 1st and 2nd. That's when Marcus Kelly made a terrific pitch and Rosas struck out. Gone was the dream of a Olympia comeback.
The Hops saw their win-loss record go to 41-35. At the same time, the Ogres fell to 36-40.
