Covenay Tames Thunder, 3-0
|
The Marquette Miners got a magnificent performance from pitcher Trevor Covenay, who stifled the St. Petersburg offense en route to a 3-0 Miners win at Marquette Stadium. The Miners saw their win-loss record go to 35-39. At the same time, the Thunder fell to 40-34.
Covenay tossed 122 pitches over 8.2 innings to clinch the win for the Miners. The right-hander allowed just 1 hit, while racking up 9 strikeouts in the game.
"We'll savor this win," Covenay told the Marquette Observer, "then get ready for the next game."
