Miners Go Down to Defeat, 6-2
|
No one was more impactful than Dude Person in the 6-2 Olympia win over Marquette. Person, who is tied for 8th in the SAA in stolen bases with 6, was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Ken O'Neal, who went 5.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 6 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 2-1. Gonzalo Roldán earned the save, his 4th.
Sergio Calderón tagged a home run off Dermott Kalman in the bottom of the third. His solo blast put the Ogres on top, 1-0. In all, Calderón had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Olympia manager Steve Ward.
