The St. Petersburg Thunder did just enough to secure a victory over the Yakima Hops, 2-1, at Hops Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Manuel Villalobos. Ed Wheeler earned the save for St. Petersburg, his 12th of the year. The victory gives St. Petersburg a record of 34-26.

Villalobos earned the win, going 7 strong innings for St. Petersburg. The right-hander allowed just no hits, while striking out 7. Yakima hitters had little success against him.

"There was no wiggle room in this one," said Villalobos.
