In the 9-3 St. Petersburg win over Marquette, the impact of Frazer Gent was substantial. Gent, who is tied for 8th in the SAA in bases on balls with 26, went 3-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Jorge Ortíz got the win, improving to 5-2. He pitched 7.1 innings, giving up 7 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 2. St. Petersburg, at 31-22, occupies second place in the Silver AA.
With St. Petersburg leading 6-1 in the bottom of the sixth, Gent came up to bat against Marquette pitcher Ricardo Aguirre. Gent hit a fastball to right-center for a 3-run home run. His 10th home run of the season put the Thunder on top, 9-1.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Gent said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
