The Pine Island Dolphins had to overcome a good performance from Providence pitcher Jack Peters to claim a 2-1 win at Field of Plenty. Peters went 7 innings and allowed 1 run. Pine Island bumps their record to 18-19 with the win.
Pine Island used the clutch hitting of Sherwood Barnes to snag the win. The designated hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Dolphins ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a crucial one.
"We didn't go down without a fight," said Providence manager Justin Moore.
