The Marquette Miners got a strong performance from pitcher Dermott Kalman, who stymied the Yakima offense en route to a win, 3-1, at Marquette Stadium. The Miners raised their record to 9-14.
Don Meyer had a critical at-bat with one out in the bottom of the sixth for Marquette. He came through with a solo home run to put Marquette in front, 3-1.
"It was a good effort all around," said Meyer.
