Thunder Deal Pilgrims 4-2 Loss
|
The St. Petersburg Thunder topped the Providence Pilgrims, 4-2, in USSL Double A action at Field of Plenty. The game was highlighted by the performance of St. Petersburg pitcher Colm Broomfield. Broomfield went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 5. His record improves to 2-0. The win takes St. Petersburg to 9-5.
St. Petersburg used a well-timed hit by Frazer Gent to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Thunder ahead, 4-1. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said St. Petersburg manager Emílio Sáenz.
