Rails Mow Down Ghosts, 9-1
|
The Casper Ghosts and Richland Rails were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The 9-1 Richland win over Casper was due in large part to Ricardo Landata. The Rails center fielder went 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Richland starter John Barnard was credited with the win after throwing 91 pitches over 5.2 innings. His record now stands at 2-0. Earning his 1st save for Richland was Karsten Lips.
The Rails got an important contribution from designated hitter Iván Monterrey, who in the bottom of the fourth hit a cutter into left-center for a grand slam home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Rails ahead, 9-0.
"The hot tub feels extra good after a solid win," said Landata.
With the win, Richland goes to 35-42, while the Ghosts fall to 44-33.
