Coeur Earn 3-2 Win Versus Battery
|
The St. Louis Coeur picked up a win at Charleston Armory, knocking off the Charleston Battery, 3-2. Starting pitcher Doug Santamarina was a big reason why. St. Louis reliever Eugene Pearce picked up the win, upping his record to 3-3. John Gaudet shouldered the loss. Claude Richardson converted his 29th save in 32 tries.
Mark MacGrewar, the slick-fielding center fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. MacGrewar contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to put St. Louis up, 3-2.
Santamarina called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
With the win, St. Louis pushed its record to 65-42.
