Leviathan Nip Lakers, 4-3
|
The Nova Scotia Leviathan picked up a win at LA Forum, taking down the Echo Park Lakers, 4-3. Starting pitcher Roberto Chaumond was a big reason why. Chaumond went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 1, and struck out 7. His record improves to 2-1. Jorge Valdéz closed it out for his 27th save.
Nova Scotia used the timely hitting of Robert Montgomery to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Leviathan on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Montgomery said.
The Lakers, at 45-55, have lost 4 in a row.
