Late Rally by Rainbow Mermaids Locks Up 3-2 Win
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids and the Nova Scotia Leviathan, Marty Taylor was the difference-maker. The Northern Virginia left-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. Jesús Rosas came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. His record now stands at 7-14. Northern Virginia is now 45-54.
Had Ed Moss not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Moss hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Rainbow Mermaids.
After the game, Northern Virginia manager David Lister applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
