Skidding Lakers Lose 8th Straight
Northern Virginia starter Marty Taylor put a stranglehold on the Echo Park offense. The left-hander had complete command of his forkball in leading the Rainbow Mermaids to a 2-1 win. Northern Virginia reliever Gian-Carlo Maneilli picked up the win, upping his record to 2-2. George Crane was saddled with the loss. This loss makes it 8 in a row for Echo Park.

Runs were scarce in this one. So, Lance Smith's at-bat in the top of the eighth was vitally important. With no one out, the Northern Virginia shortstop hit a sacrifice fly, to give his team a 2-1 lead.

"The want-to is there for our guys," said Echo Park manager Jordan Calhoun. "We'll get this thing turned around."
