Coeur Shut Out Lakers, 5-0
|
The St. Louis Coeur picked up a win at The BFIB, knocking off the Echo Park Lakers, 5-0. Starting pitcher Thomas Zachary played a key role in the triumph. Zachary, the winner, moves to 3-8. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 2 walks. Earning his 1st save of the year was Chris Plautz.
Mark MacGrewar had a critical at-bat with two out in the bottom of the sixth for St. Louis. He came through with a 2-run single to put St. Louis in front, 4-0.
"I thought we played a nice game," Zachary told the St. Louis News. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
The Coeur, at 50-32, have now won 4 straight.
