The Echo Park Lakers got a strong performance from pitcher Mitch Ivey, who stymied the Thunder Bay offense en route to a win, 4-1, at LA Forum. The winning pitcher was Ivey, now 9-2. He tossed 6 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 5. Echo Park's record now stands at 33-36, placing them 7th in the Third League.
The Lakers got an important contribution from left fielder Donald Anderson, who in the bottom of the fourth knocked a full count fastball into right-center for a solo home run. It was his 12th home run of the season and put the Lakers ahead, 2-1.
"Enjoyed this one," Anderson told the Echo Park Observer. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
