Northern Lions BC Tag Battery with 4-1 Loss
|
Thunder Bay starter Arthur Ward put a stranglehold on the Charleston offense. The left-hander had complete command of his changeup in leading the Northern Lions BC to a 4-1 win. Ward, the winner, moves to 3-6. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 1 walk. Dan Taylor closed the door for Thunder Bay, picking up his 3rd save of the year.
Clarence Hogan, the 26-year old second baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Hogan contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put Thunder Bay up, 2-0.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Thunder Bay manager Scott Williams.
The Northern Lions BC go to 27-32, putting them 9th in the Third League.
