Behind a solid performance from designated hitter Ramiro Curran, the Nova Scotia Leviathan defeated the Detroit Elite, 7-6. Curran went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Leviathan. Jorge Valdéz closed it out for his 16th save. The Leviathan' win now puts them at 34-25.
The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Millard Blanchard came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Detroit pitcher Gypsyamber D'Souza, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Nova Scotia on top, 7-6.
"We got the victory," said Blanchard. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
