Syracuse pitcher Alan Gilbert did his part in helping his team beat the Ellenburg Fighting Dachshunds, 4-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Dave Green converted his 4th save in 7 tries. The last-place Fighting Dachshunds have lost 5 straight games.
Syracuse relied on the bat of Martín Pliego to get the win. The left fielder ripped a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Squirrel Monkeys ahead, 3-2. For the game, Pliego had 1 double and 1 home run in 3 at-bats.
