Calgary wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Pablo Gonzáles, falling to the Norfolk Pajaritos, 3-1. Gonzáles threw 9.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Nick Cummins, 1-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. Calgary, at 59-41, has lost 4 straight.
Norfolk used the timely hitting of Víctor Deireragea to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Pajaritos on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
