Flyers Go Down to Defeat, 7-5
|
In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.
Starting pitcher Choon-mo Kim pitched well enough to help the Hartford Pride beat the Pennsauken Flyers, 7-5. Kim, now 7-9, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Rodger Asmus locked down his 7th save.
The Pride got an important contribution from third baseman Juan Martínez, who in the bottom of the fourth punched a 1-1 fastball into left for a bases-clearing double. It was his 26th double of the season and put the Pride ahead, 5-1.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Martínez. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
Hartford has a 3-game win streak, while Pennsauken has lost 3 in a row.
