The Norfolk Pajaritos had to overcome a big game from Syracuse right fielder Pablo Hernández to leave Norfolk Field with a victory. And they did, winning 7-5. Hernández went 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Burian Polyn was the winner. Over 5.2 innings, he allowed 5 runs on 5 hits, with 7 walks and 3 strikeouts. Wing-chiu Che closed the door for Norfolk, picking up his 5th save of the year.
Keith Atkins put Norfolk in front, 7-0, when he took Bernard Miller downtown. His 3-run home run came with one out in the bottom of the fifth. It was his 15th home run of the season.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Norfolk manager Phil Baker.
The 'W' lifts Norfolk's record to 37-47.
