The Ft. Myers Marlins topped the Tortolita Drummers, 5-2, in USSL Triple A action at Drummers Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to Ft. Myers pitcher and Traverse City, Michigan, native John Palmer. The Marlins move to 27-44 with the win, while the Drummers drop to 36-35.

Ft. Myers got the win thanks to a clutch hit from Miguel Lajara. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Marlins ahead, 3-2. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it had a major impact on the outcome.

"We did a lot of things right," said Palmer.
