Squirrel Monkeys Drop Drummers, 4-1

The Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys topped the Tortolita Drummers, 4-1, in USSL Triple A action at Drummers Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to Syracuse pitcher and Westland, Michigan, native Steve Gourin. Bryce Poindexter earned the save, his 19th. The Squirrel Monkeys now have a mark of 42-18.
Syracuse used the bat of Pablo Hernández to get the win. The right fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Squirrel Monkeys ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
Hernández attributed the win to "a well-rounded effort by the whole team."
