Drummers Deal Pride 5-3 Defeat
|
Behind the hitting of Hanskarl Hümmel, the Tortolita Drummers stopped the Hartford Pride, 5-3. Hümmel was 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Drummers. Ray Harrison, the winning pitcher, improved to 1-1. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 7 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 2 and walking 3. Will Sovaiala sewed up the save, his 1st.
Hümmel contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Tortolita in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 3-2, Hümmel took a cutter from Mark Hogan and stroked the home run to left. His 5th home run of the season allowed the Drummers to leap in front, 5-3.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Hümmel. "And not try to do too much."
Tortolita is now 28-23, Hartford 18-33.
