Squirrel Monkeys Stay Hot With 4-2 Win
|
The Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys topped the Pennsauken Flyers, 4-2, in USSL Triple A action at Pennsauken Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Syracuse pitcher Bernard Miller. The winning pitcher was Miller, now 5-1. He tossed 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 10. The wins continue to add up for Syracuse, with the latest making it 7 in a row.
The Squirrel Monkeys grabbed the lead in the top of the third. With one out, George Mayes, who is tied for 9th in the SAAA in home runs with 8, hit a 2-run home run off Bob Hickey, putting Syracuse in front, 3-0. For Mayes, it was his 8th home run of the season.
"There's a lot of good karma around our club," said winning manager Scott Garrison.
