The Tortolita Drummers defeated the Calgary Lynx, 3-1, in USSL Triple A action at Drummers Ballpark. Tortolita pitcher Sixto Bustamante had a standout performance. In 7.2 innings, Bustamante surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Tortolita is now 25-22, Calgary 27-20.
The Drummers grabbed the lead in the bottom of the fifth. With two out, Werner Hayes hit a solo home run off Dave Lewis, putting Tortolita in front, 2-0. For Hayes, it was his 9th home run of the season.
"This was a tough loss," said Calgary manager Steve Duncan. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."
