Squirrel Monkeys Beat Fighting Dachshunds, 5-1
Hunter Kirkland never let the Fighting Dachshunds get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Squirrel Monkeys to a win, 5-1. Kirkland got the win, improving to 4-2. He allowed 4 hits and walked 3 over 7 innings. Kirkland allowed no runs. Syracuse is now 32-15, Ellenburg 14-33.

Syracuse used a well-timed hit by Arhippa Rintala to capture the win. The catcher socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Squirrel Monkeys ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"It all depends on which version of our team shows up," said Kirkland. "When we put it all together, I think we're a great team."
