The Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys scored a tight 5-4 win versus the Ellenburg Fighting Dachshunds at The Zoo in Syracuse. Syracuse pitcher Steve Gourin held his own in the contest. With the win, Syracuse raised its record to 18-8.

The Squirrel Monkeys were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when third baseman Yasuhiko Morita turned a first pitch fastball from Nelson Carrasco into a 2-run double. The walk-off double electrified the The Zoo in Syracuse denizens and sent the Squirrel Monkeys home with a thrilling 5-4 win.
