Lynx Prevail, 4-2, Over Syracuse
|
The 4-2 Calgary win over Syracuse was due largely to Sonny Day. The Lynx right fielder went 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. Ángel Enamorado closed the door for Calgary, picking up his 3rd save of the year. The loss drops the Squirrel Monkeys to 13-7.
Had Sumitomo Shimizu not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Shimizu hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Lynx.
"My job is to go out and play as hard as I can for the Lynx," said Shimizu.
