Hartford Wins, 9-7, in 13 Innings
|
The Hartford Pride and Sacramento Redlegs put on quite a show.
The Hartford Pride topped the Sacramento Redlegs, 9-7, in 13 innings. Hartford third baseman Juan Martínez, in particular, was impressive. He was 4-5 with a double, 3 singles, and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The win belongs to Michael Ramsey in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Ronald Reynolds took the loss for Sacramento.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Clinton Dotson came to bat in the top of the 13th. Facing Sacramento pitcher Ronald Reynolds, he hit a 1-1 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Hartford on top, 8-7.
"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Dotson, "but we got it done."
The Pride, with only their 6th win in 20 games, could be the worst team in the league.
