The exploits of designated hitter Colton Pennington, who is tied for 8th in the SAAA in runs scored with 9, helped the Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys defeat the Sunset District Fog, 4-1. Pennington was 4 for 4 with a home run and 2 doubles. Bryce Poindexter closed it out for his 8th save. After losing, Sunset District is 8-7.
Syracuse got the win thanks to a clutch hit from Vinnie Nuyten. The first baseman stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Squirrel Monkeys ahead, 4-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it had a major impact on the outcome.
Pennington said his team "played with determination."
