Squirrel Monkeys Down Redlegs, 5-2

The Sacramento Redlegs and Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys defeated the Sacramento Redlegs, 5-2, in USSL Triple A action at The Zoo in Syracuse. Syracuse pitcher Steve Gourin had a standout performance. Gourin went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 3, and struck out 4. His record improves to 1-1. Bryce Poindexter earned the save for Syracuse, his 5th of the year.
In the bottom of the seventh, Syracuse center fielder Dave Kramer hit a run-scoring single to left field. The clutch hit made it, 3-2, Squirrel Monkeys.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Syracuse manager Scott Garrison.
The win leaves Syracuse with a record of 5-3.
