Flyers Pick Up 5-2 Win
|
The Pennsauken Flyers beat the Sacramento Redlegs, 5-2, at Pennsauken Park. The win was due in part to shortstop Fred McElroy, who went 2-3 with a home run, while scoring 2 and driving in 4. Ben van de Loo earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. He upped his record to 1-1. Carlos Rosas closed it out for his 1st save.
McElroy came through with some timely hitting for Pennsauken. With Sacramento trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the seventh, McElroy hit a 1-1 slider for a grand slam home run. His 1st home run of the season made it 5-2, Pennsauken.
"I was able to barrel up some pitches," said McElroy.
Sacramento falls to 1-1.
