Humpbacks Edge Dodos, 5-4
|
The Alaskan Humpbacks topped the Hialeah Dodos by a score of 5-4. Leading the way was left fielder Dave Alexander. Alexander was 2-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Humpbacks. The win belongs to Tony Wille in relief. His record improves to 3-1. George Butler took the loss for Hialeah. Hialeah, at 40-51, has lost 5 straight.
Had Darren Gordam not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Gordam hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Humpbacks.
"I was a little disappointed," said Hialeah manager Billy Strauss. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
