Gatacre Goes Wild, But Monsters Win
The Monongahela Monsters weathered an outstanding game by Syracuse designated hitter Bill Gatacre to topple the Starks, 10-8. Gatacre went 3 for 5 with 2 home runs and a double. He drove in 7 runs and scored twice. The winner in relief was Júlio Castillo. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3.2 innings. He now owns a record of 3-2. The Monsters now have a mark of 52-39.

The Monsters got a big at-bat from first baseman Freddie Cupp. For the game, Cupp went 1-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 6th home run of the season gave Monongahela a 9-5 lead.

"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Monongahela skipper Sancho Tornero.
