The Syracuse Starks downed the Kansas Rainbeaus, 14-4, at Wichita Field. Bill Gatacre led the way, going 3-for-5 for Syracuse. Syracuse pitcher Bill Strain got the win, upping his record to 4-8. Mario Rodríguez got the loss. The triumph makes Syracuse 27-52.

Paul Gonzáles chipped in for Syracuse with a grand slam home run in the top of the seventh. For the game, the third baseman had 2 hits in 6 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 5 runs batted in.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Gonzáles told a Syracuse News reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
