The Baton Rouge Brass had to overcome a big game from Syracuse catcher Silvio van Dalen to leave Stark Stadium with a victory. And they did, winning 6-5. van Dalen was 2-4 with a double, while scoring 2 runs. With the win, Baton Rouge upped its record to 39-36.

This game was not decided until Pancho Cháves came to bat in the top of the ninth. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and one out, the Baton Rouge left fielder hit a sacrifice fly. The Brass took the lead, 6-5.

"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Cháves said.
