Juan González was in top form in a low-scoring contest between Baton Rouge and Monongahela. The Brass left-hander helped his team beat the Monsters, 1-0. Baton Rouge reliever Mark Springer picked up the win to move to 2-1. Carlos Vázquez suffered the loss. Baton Rouge now owns a record of 37-35.

Baton Rouge took a 1-0 lead on Ben Walters's 6th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Walters hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Monongahela pitcher Carlos Vázquez shaking his head.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Monongahela skipper Sancho Tornero, "and it cost us."
