Brass Beat Alaskan, 3-2
|
The Alaskan Humpbacks and Baton Rouge Brass provided some drama for the home crowd.
The Alaskan Humpbacks got a superb performance from pitcher Curtis Hall. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Baton Rouge. The Brass won the game, 3-2. Hall threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The winner in relief was Carl Keller. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 7-1. Matt Jenkins converted his 10th save in 11 tries.
Baton Rouge used the clutch hitting of Chet Davis to capture the win. The second baseman drilled a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Brass ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Alaskan manager Kelly Flint.
The 'W' lifts Baton Rouge's record to 33-33.
