Loss to Humpbacks Extends Baton Rouge Losing Streak
Mainio Kyyro never let the Brass get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Humpbacks to a win, 3-1. In 7 innings, Kyyro surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Lloyd Natoff finished the game for Alaskan and earned his 1st save.

The Brass had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Humpbacks going into the bottom of the third inning. That changed quickly when the 29-year old first baseman Steve Covington came to the plate. Covington hit a 2-run home run on a full count slider from Baton Rouge hurler Herb Willis. It was Covington's 5th home run of the year.

Covington told a Alaskan Gazette reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.

Baton Rouge is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 8 in a row.
